4 Steps to Specifying Lightcloud
-
Complete your fixture layout
-
Determine zoning or luminaire-level control
-
Place Sensors for proper coverage
-
Add Gateways, wallstations, and outlets
Or…Let us design the layout for you!
DESIGN GUIDELINES
Wireless Mesh — No Control Wires
Lightcloud devices can send, receive, and repeat signals, so there’s no need to add Gateways to cover longer distances.
Ethernet Free, Cellular Connection
The Gateways has an internal cellular modem, so no networking wires are required.
Ethernet is required for sites using BACnet.
200 Devices per Gateway
Each Gateway can handle up to 200 Lightcloud devices. We recommend leaving a small buffer, so additional devices can later be added.
Unlimited Gateways
There’s no limit to the number of Gateways that can be used at a site and all of the Gateways communicate through the cloud.
Min 1 Gateway per Building
Don’t use a single Gateway for multiple buildings even if the device count is below 200.
Wireless Range
Place interior devices within 100′ of another device.
Place exterior devices within 1000′ of another device.
Min 1 Wallstation per Area
Place wallstations as needed to meet dimming and scene requirements.
Place Outdoor Devices High
Adding elevated Controllers helps avoid outdoor obstructions.
RF Around Corners
If you need to direct a wireless mesh signal around the corner of a building, you can install two Controllers in a 90 degree fashion from each other as pictured.
Emergency Lighting
Lightcloud has several solutions for UL-924 compliance.
Battery Backup: For emergency fixtures with integrated battery backup supplies, Lightcloud Controllers can be wired directly to the fixture just like any other fixture.
Emergency Backup Circuit: If on/off control of the fixture isn’t required, a Lightcloud Controller’s dimming wires can be connected directly to the fixture.
For on/off and dimming control of emergency generator-powered fixtures, Lightcloud Controllers must be wired with the Lightcloud Shunt. One Shunt is required for each Controller on the emergency circuit. Lightcloud-Enabled fixtures can also be ordered with a Shunt pre-installed for fast-easy installation.
